About Malia and
Urban Aspect Interiors

Interior design with clarity, structure and purpose.

Before I was an interior designer, I was a civil engineer graduate and a builder administrator. I spent years understanding how buildings actually go together, reading contracts, sitting in site meetings, and working through the gap between what gets designed and what gets built. That background didn't leave when I moved into design. It became the foundation of how I work.

At Urban Aspect, I take responsibility for outcomes my clients didn't know to plan for. I look at structure before I look at finishes. I resolve layout and function before I touch a material schedule. I produce documentation that builders can actually use, because I understand what they need and when they need it. And I ask the questions most designers don't think to ask, because I've seen what happens when nobody does.

I'm based in Townsville and I work with homeowners building or renovating, and with builders who want a design partner who understands their world. If you want someone to show you pretty things, there are plenty of good options. If you want someone to make sure the whole thing actually works, that's what I'm here for.

How I Work.

Interior design support, matched to where your project is at

Every project is different. Some clients come to me early, seeking clarity before plans are finalised. Others are ready for detailed documentation and need a designer who can step in and prepare clear, builder-ready information.

I offer two services: the Foundations Package for early planning support, and the Design Documentation Package for detailed selections and documentation. Both are clearly scoped and can be engaged independently.

A guided but flexible process.

Not every client needs the same level of support at the same time. My role is to help you identify the service that best suits your current stage and provide clear, structured design input without unnecessary steps.

Some projects engage me for early clarity. Others engage me solely for detailed documentation. Both approaches are valid.

We work with a limited number of projects at a time to ensure focused involvement, clear communication and a high level of detail.
